90 Days to a new physical body…Less is more..

January 17, 2010 at 7:16 am (Lifestyle) (, , , , , , , )

After having some moderate success with my 40 Day fast, I realized that consuming better quality food & eliminating meat  gave me much more natural energy and made it very simple to drop a few pounds. If you are considering losing some weight, or if you want to start eating better quality foods, and increase your overall energy and productivity, this blog may assist you as an option that you may consider taking. Like any other form of  “diet” , if you educate yourself first, and also have someone you can model, it makes the process a lot easier! I will keep you posted on my 90 day transformational journey.

Start date: 01/17/2010       Weight: 220 lbs.

Day 1 & 2:

  • Food: Cause

Consists of eating mainly fruits and veggies.  I also have been drinking this amazing juice from Trader Joes (Tj’s): Green plant juice (barley, wheat grasses, broccoli, spinach, peach, mango, banana purees, apple and pineapple juices. And eating cranberry & almond bars from TJ’s  and Greens + energy bars. Absolutely no meat , fish or dairy products.

  • Reason: Effect

Eating only mostly fruits and veggies for two days will prepare the body for the next step with is a 7-day Master Cleanse.  http://themastercleanse.org/

Day 3-9

  • Food: Cause

For the next 7 days I will only be drinking the special lemonade, water, and the laxative tea at night before I go to bed. I also will be doing the sea salt flush every night before I go to bed.

  • Reason : Effect

Cleanse my body of toxins & eliminate all waste in my system.

Tips for this step:

  • Apply less pepper at first, only put enough so that you can taste a bit of spicyness on the juice.
  • You dont need to drink all of the lemonade in 1 day, only drink when hungry, or when you get food/snack cravings, its ok to save half for the next day.
  • When doing the salt flush, you can warm it up, and add half a lime in the water, and it wont taste as bad, enjoy your warm margarita! lol
  • After drinking the salt water, you may be running to the toilet for 1-2hrs, so choose your flush time accordingly.

**Finally finished my 7 Day Master Cleanse, and im very excited about the results, in the & days of  only drinking the lemonade, water & the salt water flush,  I lost a total of 16 lbs.

 Date: 01/25/10      Weight: 204 lbs.

Day 10- 31

  • Food : Cause

For the next 21 days, I will only be eating raw fruits, veggies and nuts.   My meals will be consisting of mainly fruits in the morning, salad w/ veggies for lunch,  fruit as an afternoon snack, and will have fresh squeezed fruit and veggie juice for dinner. Possibly a handfull of raw almonds and cashews here and there.

  • Reason : Effect

Feed my body the right nutrients and food it needs to have more natural energy, and also, of course, lose more weight. My goal after these next 21 days is to drop another 15lbs. Which will put me down to 189 lbs, stay posted!

Tips for this step:

  • Order and read the book : Skinny Bastard (for men) or Skinny Bitch (for women)
  • In case you are worried of just eating too much fruit in one day, you can drink some Trader Joe’s Green Plant Juice or Naked Juice’s Green Machine first thing in the morning.
  • If you are anything like me, and dont like veggies too much, you can instead throw some carrots, celery or kale in your fruit juice, and you will get your daily dose of veggies that way.
  • Drink plenty of water, I mean, plenty. I am drinking about 100 oz. + daily, it helps a lot with not feeling hungry.
  • You can also go to Henrys Market or Mothers, and look for some Organic & Raw health bars, those are ok to eat also for a snack.
  • You may get bored of the same stuff eventually, so I suggest you visit these two spots in OC and get some amazing Vegan- Raw Food Cuisine:
  • 118 Degrees :  2981 Bristol  Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (714)754-0718 www.shop118degrees.com
  • Au Lac :  16563 Brookhurst St. Fountain Valley, CA 92708 (714) 418-0658    www.aulac.com

Date 2/19/10    Weight : 198lbs.

Finally completed the 21 Day Raw Food/Living Foods part of the program, and I must admit, it wasnt as hard as I thought it was going to be. It did become very mundane, fruits , veggies, nuts and salads were typical on a daily basis, and I didnt lose too much weight, actually only 6-8lbs, but I felt so alive and energized!!  Without going to the gym at all, was able to maintain the weight and also lose 8 lbs in 21 days.  And after discovering a few great Raw foods restaurants, it made it a lot better!!  My next step is to eat only Vegan meals,  and I can now have fish once a week, but only becuase I am weight training, and doing cardio now.  My goal is to lose 20 lbs by April 20th ~ Stay posted for tips & updates!

Journey of my 40 Day Vegan fast

November 24, 2009 at 8:38 pm (Lifestyle)

After 9 months of procrastination, and 45lbs of weight gain, I’ve decided to quit making excuses and get back in the gym and create a better physical lifestyle.  About a year ago I started going to the gym consistently and within two months I was able to lose 25lbs going to the gym 4 days a week, and slightly changing my eating habits.  The problem started when I lost motivation to stay in shape, and completely stopped working out, and started to eat whatever I wanted.  I gained my weight back in 60 days, and quickly gained another 20 lbs. on top of that. After coming home from the gym last night 11/23 /09 , I had a conversation with a room mate and was challenged with a 40-day Vegan fast. I’ve never been through a fast, but I did stop drinking alcohol for 2 straight years, I figure this 40 day fast will be a piece of cake!  I will be sharing with you all my progress to help keep myself accountable to my fast & fitness goals.  Starting today 11/24/09 , I will start going to the gym 3-5 days a week, and will start a 40-Day Vegan fast (i will only eat fish & shrimp) on 11/27/09 , and will lose 30 lbs. and weigh 200 lbs. by January 1st 2010. Wish me luck, and stay posted!

11/24/09  - 230 lbs.

My Top 10 Eats in O.C.

November 16, 2009 at 7:28 pm (Lifestyle)

As much as I enjoy traveling and visting a lot of new places outside of O.C.,  I truly believe that there are many amazing places to eat in O.C.  I’ve had food from great spots in New York, Atlanta, San Francisco & all over LA, and these top 10 spots are right up there with my all-time faves! If you’ve been to these places or if you have any suggestions of other spots, I’d love to know, I always like checking out new spots!

#10 – Habana : 2930 Bristol Street Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (714) 556-0176

They have many delicious Cuban dishes, and the service and venue are very relaxing and makes you want to book a flight to Cuba!  I recommend the “Ropa Vieja” dish.

#9 – El Carbonero : 9516 Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA (714) 520-0771‎

You know you’re there when you see the Blue and White building. I’ve never been to El Savador, but after eating here, and trying their pupusas, it makes me want to learn more about their culture and try new dishes.  Try all the pupusas,  very filling and I usually get full after about 2 or 3 of them.

#8 – Zov’s Bistro : 17440 E. 17th Street Tustin, CA 92780 (714)838-8855

When in need for a great fine dining experience, at a reasonable rate, you can always count on Zov’s having amazing unique dishes, and always the best staff ready to serve.  Great mediterranean dishes and also unique pastas and sandwiches. Make sure you visit the Zov’s Bakery at opposite end of the “Bistro” to see their mouth watering desserts.   I suggest the Rosemary Garlic Chicken, and make sure you dont go home without their raspberry cheesecake!

#7 – Joe’s Sushi : 7185 Lincoln Ave Buena Park, CA 90620 (714) 226-9100

Its a great All you can eat sushi spot, or you can order Ala carte.  The service isnt the very best, but they make it up with great tasting fresh sushi, with a better price. Make sure you try the “Joe’s Special roll”

#6 – Los Sanchez : 11906 Garden Grove Blvd Garden Grove (714) 590-9300

You can always expect to leave full after eating at Los Sanchez. Very friendly staff, and lots of options, not just tacos and burritos, but many seafood plates, and also a very good menudo. Try to finish their Wet Carne Asada burritos in one sitting, I dare you!

#5 - Ellen’s Pinoy Grill : 7971 Valley View St La Palma, CA 90623 (714) 522-8866

Filipino food at its best!  I love stopping by and getting my plate of Chicken Adobo with some Pancit and white rice!   Make sure you try their “Agua de Melon”

#4 – Riptide Sushi : 27741 Crown Valley Parkway, Suite 325, Mission Viejo, CA 92691

Best sushi ever! Full service Sushi restaurant, teppanyaki , sushi, salads, burgers and a full service bar! Cant go wrong with this place, if you love sushi and your partner/date/friend doesn’t , you can bring them here and there are many options for them. Make sure you try the Tornado Roll!

#3 – Carnitas Uruapan : 2106 W 5th St, Santa Ana, CA 92703 (714) 953-0295

Hands down my all time favorite taco spot in O.C.!  They have the very best carnitas tacos, but make sure that you order the “Tacos Surtidos” which is a combination of 3-4 diff. meats.  They are pretty big, so I usually get full with 2 tacos,  and of course a large horchata!

#2 – Apollo Burgers : 12012 Chapman Ave Garden Grove, CA 92840 (714) 971-0825

The very best Bacon Cheeseburger in O.C.!   If you arent in the mood for  a burger, they also have a great chicken salad and also a Chicken Teriyaki plate.

#1 – Angelo’s & Vinci’s : 550 N Harbor Blvd Fullerton, CA 92832 (714) 879-4022

The very best pizza in O.C.!  They also have a great selection of salads and pastas.  Makes you feel like you are in Italy, great decor and service.  Full bar available with a wide selection of wine.  Make sure you try the pizza!!!!

*Honorable mention: The Veggie Grill: Irvine Spectrum

Hope you all found this helpful,  go out and try something new, you never know when it will be your new favorite spot!!

Leadership Development 101

November 13, 2009 at 10:19 pm (Leadership) ()

When in search of growth and development in life, business or relationships, we must first be open minded to new ideas, coachable and also have a burning desire to become better. Too many people have asked me for advice or help, and as soon as I mention a few ‘out of the box’ ideas, I get some resistance, and also realize that people arent always looking for a new idea, but more for re-enforcement for their current ideas. -Step 1: Listen -Step 2: Learn -Step 3: Apply

We can always learn something new from EVERYONE !

-Much Love,
Omero G.
